Chickens and village life in Buxted East Sussex

I love chickens always have done, such characters and thay make lovely pets as well as supply us with plenty of eggs.

We lead fairly active lives, we both have 'day jobs' but what better way to unwind that to be greeted by our poultry friends.

Buxted Parish Church  is situated within the Buxted Park Estate and was built 1250 AD.In the churchyard there is a Yew tree that is 2000 years old.

Hi to you all,

We are Jane and David and are hobby breeders of chickens. We are keen to promote and protect pure breeds of chickens but also keep many hybrids for eggs.

Buxted was famous for 'Buxted Chickens' and there were processing factories in the village and also lesser known was the processing of rabbits and the casting of canon balls.  All this is now long gone.

The Sussex Weald is a great place to live and has easy access to main towns and is just over an hour by train to London.

We hope that our website will not only provide valuable information about chickens but also be an insight to village life that may just make people think about returning to some more local way of living and growing a few items of fruit and veg on an allotment plot or indeed a small area of your own garden.

We are also keen to promote local reared livestock for meat and other produce such as cheese rather than that mass produced and found in supermarkets.

We have a blog page so why not make a comment or two and share your views and experiences with us and readers on this site.

Kind Regards. Jane & David
